🧍 Body Language for Public Speaking: Eye Contact, Gestures, Posture

Eye Contact

Connect with one person for 3-5 seconds → move to another. Scan left, centre, right. Avoid staring at notes, screen, or floor.

Hand Gestures

Open palms (trust). Use gestures for size (big/small), numbers (1,2,3), direction (here/there). Avoid crossed arms, hands in pockets, fidgeting.

Posture

Stand straight, feet shoulder-width apart, weight balanced. Shoulders back, chest open. Do not lean on podium.

Movement & Facial Expressions

Move to transition between points. Smile when appropriate. Show enthusiasm through raised eyebrows and nods.
💡 Record yourself. Watch without sound – you should still appear confident and engaged.
