GrammarConditionalszero conditionalrulesgrammar
1. The Formula
IF + Present Simple, Present Simple
Both parts use the Present Simple tense!
2. When to Use Zero Conditional
Scientific Facts: If you heat ice, it melts.
General Truths: If you don't eat, you get hungry.
Habits: If I am tired, I go to bed early.
Instructions: If the light is red, you stop.
3. IF vs WHEN
• If you heat ice, it melts. (condition - may or may not happen)
• When you heat ice, it melts. (time - definitely happens)
In Zero Conditional, both have the SAME meaning!
4. Word Order
• If + present simple, present simple.
• Present simple + if + present simple.
You can put the "if clause" first or second. The meaning is the same.
⚠️ Important Rules:
1. Use Present Simple in BOTH parts (never "will")
2. Add -s to the verb for he/she/it
3. "If" and "when" can be used interchangeably
